I’m Still Alive
By The Editor | August 25, 2008
Yes I know some people have been worried about me because I haven’t been on here to update for a day or two (OK so it’s a little more than that!) but I am still alive and kicking. I meant to get on here and update the other day, but there was an update for Wordpress, the software that controls this blog that I needed to apply and by the time I had done that I had no time to update the blog itself!
I have had a busy few weeks. The week after we got back from Creationfest I was away again for the weekend to stay with my Sister, Kat, and go to a good friends wedding. It was really nice to see them together and I wish JP and Kat (not that Kat, another Kat) all of the blessings possible for their future together!
Since then there has been a really heavy workload on the Soteria site. Firstly just trying to get a whole load of upcoming review items entered and then also working on the ones that needed actually reviewing at fairly short order. On top of that there have been opportunities for some public witnessing and of course looking after the 2 boys and my wife. Saul still isn’t settling into a good nightly routine, so both Louisa and I are a little overtired and when you add into the equation Toby being on school holidays it doesn’t help the matter. However we have all kept our heads together and we haven’t imploded!
I have had the opportunity to take Toby to the cinema a couple of times which has been expensive, but Toby has enjoyed watching films on the big screen! So that’s been good fun and the holidays have also given us a chance to have some of Toby’s friends over to play which means we have been able to get to know some of the mum’s a bit better too, which is nice.
So today is a bank holiday and my Weather tool on Vista’s tool bar tells me it’s raining outside (gone are the days of looking out of the window and actually seeing that the weather is wrong) and we are meant to be going out with some of ‘the gang’ this afternoon. We’re not sure where to go because everything is bound to be swarming with holiday makers, especially if the sun does decide to put it’s hat on! If it stays like this though the beaches should be fairly quiet!
So I am alive and kicking, as well as can be expected and busy, busy, busy and sometimes you never really know if anyone’s alongside you for support! Please continue to pray for us!

Short Time In Creation
By The Editor | August 3, 2008
Well it’s been a busy week for me, not knowing from one day to the next if I am heading to Portreath to do open-air work and then this weekend I was due at Creation Fest for some camping and a Christian music festival.
Well we went, leaving here at 6:30 Friday morning. We arrived at about 9am and set up our tents. The wind was blowing a gale and the tents were more like kites! The facilities were also quite a way away from our pitches, which was not a good sign, given my sister is disabled, although to be fair we hadn’t really informed the site of this prior to arrival! We then headed to the festival site.
We got our press passes and went to mingle and soak in the atmosphere. At 11 o’ Clock we managed to catch Philippa Hanna’s set in one of the smaller stages. Afterwards we grabbed her for an interview, I know my review of her first album said that there was great potential, and I am fairly satisfied that I am right - she is truly on fire for God, wanting to spread His glory not her own!
After lunch before the main stage started we managed to arrange an interview with Linz West, front man of LZ7 (and formerly the Tribe) and later in the day we managed to hook up with Mark Mohr of Christafari - Look for all these interviews coming soon on the website (or possibly in the magazine!). After all this it was about 9pm so we left to get some tea in Woolacombe - a lovely sea-side town (or village?) that is only slightly marked by the tourist trade. Then headed back to the campsite.
There was a disaster at the campsite though! Well maybe not disaster exactly, but something that was distinctly annoying. My brand new tent which had been erected according to the instructions was not exactly standing properly. In fact it was definitely in something that could be described as a slounch. At first I thought is was just a little blown over, but soon realised it was worse than it looked because one of the supporting bendy bars had shattered, either in the wind, or someone had stepped on it. Whatever it was the tent was unusable!
So what to do? We decided Helen would stay in her tent (with mattress) and I would sleep in the passenger seat of her Volvo. Well I did try to sleep, I was just dropping off when someone tapped on the door and opened it. Thankfully it was only Helen, off to the loo complaining that she couldn’t sleep and the day had taken a toll on her asthma! She went to the loo and returned to her tent. I tried to get to sleep again. It was like trying to sleep on a very uncomfortable dentist’s chair. Needless to say I didn’t sleep too well, or long and I gave up at half three. At which point I turned on the light in the car to check out the days schedule and who was playing and when. The bands that I really wanted to see, Four Kornerz and Electralyte were not going to be performing until much later in the day - so I decided to suggest we head home.
In the dark we took down the tents as quietly as we could and made our exit. I was slightly disappointed, but I did get 3 interviews which meant it was worth going. Next year we’ll B&B it!
Since I got back I have managed to post the Kevin Max interview - finally and other bits of news. One thing to look out for coming soon that I found at creation fest is a stunning album from one of the other singers in Christafari - Avion Blackman - her second album is (from initial listening at least) absolutely fantastic. It’s called “Sweet Life” and I would suggest you buy it as soon at it comes out from www.gospelreggae.com
